Do Words Mean Anything Anymore?

March 2022

Verse 1
I wake up full of sorrow; your word says you’ll meet me there, but rest feels out of reach.
My faith is shaking, Lord. You promised in Your Word that Your Word You would keep.
Are you doing this to me, or have you left me alone? What would I even prefer?
“Don’t cast blame on me”, was your reply, and that my own sinful desire death birthed.
“Don’t cast blame on me”, was your reply, and that my own sinful desire death birthed.

Chorus
I am sorry if words mean anything anymore.
I am remorseful if regret means anything anymore.
I am changing if repentance means anything anymore.
I am convicted if conscience means anything anymore.

Verse 2
My conscience shattered, life’s meaning and purpose so blurred
I’m in a state of despair, so low that it’s hard to believe any words
I’m searching for redemption, clinging to any hope that could be true
The sense of an answer is evading me; have you left me undo?

Chorus
I am sorry if words mean anything anymore.
I am remorseful if regret means anything anymore.
I am changing if repentance means anything anymore.
I am convicted if conscience means anything anymore.

Bridge
Lord, give me a second chance, Spirit, you’ve been set free
A love so great, mercy divine, stronger than me
My past, be erased, my destiny, be changed,
no time to be forlorn, pick up the remains.

Outro
I am forgiven if repair means anything anymore.
I am sorry if words mean anything anymore.
