Woman’s Consequence Of Sin

,

Consequence For You (Only Women)

Bad news, ladies. A woman’s consequence of sin is no joke, either. Labor pains, husband issues, etc. It doesn’t seem like you have it easy. But something to note, this curse happened after you sinned, not before. This was a consequence of sin, not an original creative intent. And here is what God says about it your consequence.

Genesis 3:16

16 He said to the woman: I will intensify your labor pains; you will bear children with painful effort. Your desire will be for your husband, yet he will rule over you.

I will not try to teach something that hasn’t been taught before. That would be pretty ignorant. I’m no fancy scholar—just someone with access to the same tools you do. And you can look up the complete Hebrew version of Genesis 3:16. But for your ease, I’ll write it out the best I can in English.

To the woman, He said, “greatly I will multiply your sorrow and your conception. In pain, you shall bring forth children for your husband, which is your desire. He will rule over you.”

  • rule = mashal: to rule, have dominion, reign

What do you guys think?

Woman’s Consequence For Sin

I’m no expert, and I’m fully aware I probably botched that Hebrew. But it sounds like part of the punishment for sin for the woman is to be under the dominion of her husband. That doesn’t sound great. It sounds like a punishment, a consequence, a bad thing. And it should be because it is. What do you think this means for the future of men and women?

I think most, at first glance, might say, “See – a woman is under the man.” And then use this as a good thing. This is not a good thing. We cannot celebrate here; we have to mourn. No longer is it a wife’s nature to be a man’s helper. The one that comes alongside and champions him. This isn’t an opportunity for man to rule with an iron fist. That isn’t what a Jesus-fearing husband would look towards as a way to use control. When a man might accompany a scripture like Genesis 3:16 alongside, say, Mark 10:45.

Mark 10:45

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

We all have a new way with Jesus. A was of service to the King.

Punishment Of Woman Is Not A Reward For Man

Don’t be foolish. To assume that you, a man, have the right to rule over a woman because she has been punished is foolish. Do we see this example throughout the Bible? Yes, we do. And that is a travesty. We see many examples of human corruption throughout history. The entire nation of Isreal, blessed by God to show the other nations His majesty, used that gift and oppressed and abused the other nations while rejecting God. And what was their reward? Divorce (Jeremiah 3:8).

So before considering using the punishment of a woman to further corrupt agenda oppression, let’s pause for a moment. Let us pause and repent. Ask God for forgiveness so our prayers will no longer be hindered.

1 Peter 3:7

7 Husbands, in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with a weaker partner, showing them honor as coheirs of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.

We are all in this together now. We all have sinned and fallen short. The amount of evil surrounding us is uncalculatable. We have to work together. We have to love one another.
