“Enter through the narrow gate, for the path leading away to destruction is broad and open; many enter it. The narrow gate and cramped path lead to life, and those who find it are few. Before of the false prophets, who come to you dressed as sheep, but who are ravenous wolves within. You will know them from their fruits. They do not gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? So every good tree produces good fruit, but the diseased tree produces bad fruits. A good tree cannot bear bad fruits, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruits. Every tree not producing good fruit is felled and cast into fire. The good man brings forth what is good from the good treasury of the heart. The wicked man brings forth what is wicked from the wicked of his heart. For his mouth speaks out what overflows from his heart. From their fruits, therefore, you will know them.” (Matthew 7:13-20, Luke 6:43-45)

Do What Jesus Says

“Not everyone saying, ‘Lord, Lord’ to me will enter into the Kingdom of the heavens, but rather the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens. Many will say to me that day, ‘Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and drive out demons in your name and perform many acts of power in your name?’ But they did not do what I say, and then I will declare to them: ‘I never knew you, go away from me, you workers of lawlessness.’[Psalm 6:8]” (Matthew 7:21-23, Luke 6:46)

“Therefore, everyone coming to me and hearing my sayings and acting, I will show you who he is like. He is like a prudent man who dug a foundation and built his house upon a rock. The rain fell, the rivers flooded, and the winds blew and fell upon that house, and it did not fall, for it had been built well. But the one who hears these says of mine and does not put them into action is like a foolish man who builds his house upon the sand without a foundation. The rain fell, the rivers flooded, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it immediately collapsed, and its fall was a great one.” (Matthew 7:24-27, Luke 6:47-49)

People Were Astonished

When Jesus had completed saying these things, the crowds were astounded at his teaching, for he was teaching them like someone who possessed power – not like their scribes. And at his descent from the mountain, large crowds followed him as he entered Capernaum. (Matthew 7:28-8:1, Luke 7:1)
