“Therefore, I say to you: Do not worry about your soul what you will eat or drink; nor your body, what you will wear. Is not your soul more than food and your body more than garments? See the birds of the sky – they neither sow nor reap nor gather into granaries, and your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not more excellent than they? But who among you can, by worrying, lengthen the span of his life by a single bit? So why do you worry about clothing? Look closely at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They neither labor nor spin, yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory was dressed like one of them.” (Matthew 6:25-29)
“If God clothes the grass of the field, which exists for today and is thrown into an oven tomorrow, will he not much the more clothe you, men of little faith? So do not worry, saying ‘What might we eat?’ or ‘What might we drink?’ or ‘What might we wear?’ For the gentile people seek after these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. Seek the Kingdom of God and his justice first, and all these things shall be supplied to you. Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has evil enough of its own.” (Matthew 6:30-34)
Do Not Judge or Condemn
“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you shall be forgiven. Give, and you shall be given: into your lap they will pour a goodly measure, pressed down, shaken together, and spilling over. In the same way, you judge others, you will be judged, and with the same measure you have, it will be measured to you.” Jesus also told them these parables, “Can a blind man guide a blind man? Will not both fall into a pit? A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.” (Luke 6:37-40, Matthew 7:1-2)
“And why do you look at the straw in your brother’s eye yet not perceive the beam in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take the straw out of your eye,’ without seeing the beam in your eye? Hypocrite, first pluck the beam out of your eye, and then you will see clearly how to pluck the stray out of your brother’s eye. Do not give what is holy to the dogs, neither cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them with their feet and turn to shatter you.” (Luke 6:41-42, Matthew 7:3-6)
Ask & Seek
“Ask, and it shall be given to you. Seek, and you shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you. Everyone who asks receives. Everyone who seeks finds. Everyone who knocks it shall be opened. Is it not the case that any man among you, if his son should ask for a loaf of bread, would give him a stone? Or if he should ask for a fish, would he give him a serpent? If you, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heavens give good things to him who asks him? Therefore, for things that you wish men might do to you, do to them as well. For this is the Law and the prophets.” (Matthew 7:7-12, Luke 6:31)
